وَعَلَّمَ آدَمَ الْأَسْمَاءَ كُلَّهَا ثُمَّ عَرَضَهُمْ عَلَى الْمَلَائِكَةِ فَقَالَ أَنْبِئُونِي بِأَسْمَاءِ هَٰؤُلَاءِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ ﴿۳۱﴾ قَالُوا سُبْحَانَكَ لَا عِلْمَ لَنَا إِلَّا مَا عَلَّمْتَنَا ےۖ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَلِيمُ الْحَكِيمُ ﴿۳۲﴾ قَالَ يَا آدَمُ أَنْبِئْهُمْ بِأَسْمَائِهِمْ ےۖ فَلَمَّا أَنْبَأَهُمْ بِأَسْمَائِهِمْ قَالَ أَلَمْ أَقُلْ لَكُمْ إِنِّي أَعْلَمُ غَيْبَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَأَعْلَمُ مَا تُبْدُونَ وَمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْتُمُونَ ﴿۳۳﴾ وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ اسْجُدُوا لِآدَمَ فَسَجَدُوا إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰ وَاسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ ﴿۳۴﴾ وَقُلْنَا يَا آدَمُ اسْكُنْ أَنْتَ وَزَوْجُكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَكُلَا مِنْهَا رَغَدًا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمَا وَلَا تَقْرَبَا هَٰذِهِ الشَّجَرَةَ فَتَكُونَا مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ ﴿۳۵﴾ فَأَزَلَّهُمَا الشَّيْطَانُ عَنْهَا فَأَخْرَجَهُمَا مِمَّا كَانَا فِيهِ ےۖ وَقُلْنَا اهْبِطُوا بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ ےۖ وَلَكُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ مُسْتَقَرٌّ وَمَتَاعٌ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ ﴿۳۶﴾ فَتَلَقَّىٰ آدَمُ مِنْ رَبِّهِ كَلِمَاتٍ فَتَابَ عَلَيْهِ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ ﴿۳۷﴾ قُلْنَا اهْبِطُوا مِنْهَا جَمِيعًا ےۖ فَإِمَّا يَأْتِيَنَّكُمْ مِنِّي هُدًى فَمَنْ تَبِعَ هُدَايَ فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ ﴿۳۸﴾ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ ےۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ ﴿۳۹﴾ يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ اذْكُرُوا نِعْمَتِيَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَأَوْفُوا بِعَهْدِي أُوفِ بِعَهْدِكُمْ وَإِيَّايَ فَارْهَبُونِ ﴿۴۰﴾

And HE taught Adam all the names, then HE put the objects of these names before the angles and said, `Tell ME the names of these, if you are right,' ﴾31﴿ They said, `Holy art THOU ! No knowledge have we except what THOU hast taught us; surely THOU art All-Knowing, the Wise.' ﴾32﴿ HE said `O Adam, tell them their names;' and when he had told them their names, HE said `Did I not say to you, I know the secrets of the heavens and the earth, and I know what you reveal and what you hide? ﴾33﴿ And remember the time when WE said to the angels `Submit to ADAM,' and they all submitted. But Iblis did not. He refused and deem himself too big; and he was of the disbelievers. ﴾34﴿ And when WE said `O Adam, dwell thou and thy wife in the garden, and eat therefrom plentifully where ever you will, but approach not this tree, least you be of the wrongdoers.' ﴾35﴿ But Satan caused them both to slip by means of it and drove them out of the state in which they were. And WE said, `Go forth hence; some of you are enemies of others and for you there is an abode in the earth and a provision for a time.' ﴾36﴿ Then Adam learnt from his Lord certain words of prayer. So HE turned towards him with mercy. Surely HE is Oft-Returning with compassion, and is Merciful. ﴾37﴿ We said. `Go forth hence, all of you. And if there comes to you guidance from ME then whoso shall follow MY guidance, on them shall come no fear nor shall they grieve.' ﴾38﴿ But they who will disbelieve and treat Our signs as lies, these shall be the inmates of the Fire; herein shall they abide. ﴾39﴿ O Children of Israel ! remember MY favours which I bestowed upon you, and fulfill your covenant with ME, I will fulfill MY covenant with you, and ME alone should you fear. ﴾40﴿
